Terrible

As a long time fan of the book, this was extremely disappointing. Whereas the book is blissfully free of harsh language and sex, making it a perfect choice for its target audience, within the first five minutes of Episode 1 we are inundated by constant swearing and sexual situations COMPLETELY inappropriate for the books target audience. I couldn’t watch past Episode 2 and am amazed that this disgrace of a television show shares the same name as the book. If you are not a fan of the book and are looking for a funny bridgerton esque romp then this could be for you, but for anyone interested who loved the book BEWARE! I think that it is very harmful to remove a story so completely from its original target demographic and I hope that no young teens make the mistake of viewing this thinking that they will get a story remotely similar to that of the book.

Amazing!

This is one of my favorite shows! The content is very clean so great for the family but might be more interesting for older kids. The one thing to be aware if is that Selena does wear some outfits while performing where she is just wearing a bra, these scenes never last long though. Overall it has great messages and role models and has brought me to tears multiple times. I love it!!!

THIS IS THE BEST!!!

Wow. I loved this soooo much!! We watched it with our whole family which is ages 14 down to 4 and we are now all obsessed! Parents just be aware that there is a lot of swearing(if your watching on Disney+ then they bleeped out the one or two uses of f**k) but I think that it just depends on your kids maturity and that if they know not to go out and use bad language it should be perfectly fine. Overall an amazing musical and so much fun to watch with the family.

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes: A Hunger Games Novel

Very good but also more violent then past Hunger Games

Let me just start by saying that I am in love with the Hunger Games and if that is you too, read this book. This is the prequal to Suzanne Collin's Hunger Games novels and though I think that nothing can compare to those this book was very well done. As it is a Hunger Games novel there is some heavy violence in and out of the arena. 23 tributes die of various causes and a couple are pretty disturbing. The tributes are also treated more like animals than humans before entering the arena. There are three hangings and two murders by gunshot but these are not made of in much detail. Sexual content is very minimum which I was glad about. Just some kisses and very vague innuendo about people selling their bodies for food and a song that suggests some stuff but other than than very clean from a sexual standpoint. Also there is next to no bad language, it says that there is mention of ass and jackass but I honestly can't remember any bad language from the book. The only other thing is that there is some heavy drinking resulting in drunkeness in multiple scenes but as Coriolanus in 19 in the book it is not illegeal for him to do so. One character is also addicted to morphling. But overall a really great novel from Suzanne Collins and I highly reccomend this book to all Hunger Games fans.

Amazing!!

This book is set during WW2 and I was surprised when I discovered that it’s also a mystery! I really loved the plot and couldn’t stop reading! I liked how the resolution wasn’t difficult to understand and I can’t wait to read more from this author! I would recommend this to teens 14+ as the topics discussed are heavy. There is some violence and while it wasn’t frequent it is somewhat detailed. No sexual content besides a kiss and memories of Hannekes boyfriend and the language was very mild. A great book I definitely recommend!

So Good!

I am a big fan of the Hunger Games and this movie didn't disapoint! I was afraid that I wouldn't really like it if it wasn't true to the book but it exceeded my expectations so much! It is hard to adapt a book that has been told in first person but they executed this movie so well and I loved the added bits and phrases especially from Finnick. More swearing than the first but not much a few uses of s**t and d**n and two bleeped out uses of f**k. One character strips but nothing but her shoulders and head are shown so we just see others's reactions. They do take part in another games so be prepared for it to get violent at times. One character drinks frequently but Katniss and others are so inspiring and great role models. Overall a great movie and I recommend to all fans of the Hunger Games. Excited to watch the final two movies soon!

Hollow City: Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children, Book 2

Thrilling installment to the Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children series

This was so good! Yes it is violent and chilling at times but the peculiar world has definately drawn me in. Not much to worry about sexually, just a few kisses and one man makes to advance on Emma but his intentions are quickly shut down. Language is toned down considerably compared to the first book and is limited to infrequent uses of damn, ass and hell nothing kids wouldn't usually hear. Violence would be the only thing to worry about here but fans of books like the Hunger Games would have no problem with it. Bottom line a really cool book that I enjoyed a lot. Loved it!!

I am obsessed with the Hunger Games!! I love, love, loved the book and the movie didn't disapoint. If you know anything about the Hunger Games you will know that it is pretty violent but the producers did a great job making sure that it wasn't too violent for the teen and pre-teen audience that it would have. Be prepared for a pretty high body count though as 22 of the tributes die. Katniss and Peeta share some kisses but it never goes beyond that. From what I remember profanity was limited to just a couple uses of the words damn and hell. Haymitch starts off continually drunk but sobers up later on to help Katniss and Peeta. And to all of the people skeptical about the themes of this movie let me just say that it in no way glorifies death, this was never the authors intention, it sets the stage for Katniss and those who were before to scared to speak up against the injustice and put a stop to it. I highly reccomend this to all book fans or anyone looking for a good film, the actors are amazing, the story is amazing and you will be left wanting so much more from this series. So moving.

This was an incredibly moving story that I think is a necesity for girls. I loved Anne's honesty and her optimism which really broke my heart. There are a few things for parents to be aware of, Anne is very open about her feelings on sex and so it is talked of. There are a few crude jokes made when Anne goes and visits Peter but their relationship never moves beyond kisses. She also undergoes puberty which she talks a little bit of and one entry discusses the female body parts which I decided to skip over. But other than that I think that everyone can benefit and learn something from Anne's story. I learned that no matter how dark or hopeless a situation may seem you can always find beauty and things to be grateful for.
